The symptoms of Developmental Trauma can mimic, mask, and exacerbate the features of other neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDDs), making differential diagnosis and treatment incredibly challenging. Unfortunately, rates of maltreatment are 2-3 times higher in children with NDDs -- and we can only imagine how those rates might be affected by the profound stresses of 2020-21. This lecture (and role play) will address the science and craft of differential diagnosis, recommended treatments, and the enormous power we all have as interdisciplinary clinicians to provide comfort to a traumatized child -- even if we're not a "trauma person."
